It’s the New Year and many of you have made your resolutions that you are going to get healthy this year. That is why I am writing to you. I want to help you make wise choices from the never-ending flood of information concerning diets. It can be very confusing as to what to eat, what is right and what is wrong!
First let’s agree that God made each of us different. If no two snow flakes are alike then how can any two people be alike? They can’t! It is okay if you choose to eat meat while your friend chooses to eat only vegetables. You need to find what agrees with you and what makes your body feel good. Many people have lost touch with their body and how the foods they are eating are effecting their health, mind, emotions and energy.
I am going to take this down to basics in this first newsletter and then expand upon the many ways you can incorporate healthy food, herbs and supplements into your diet.
The most important change you can make towards your health is to start choosing the right foods. God said “Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” Genisis 1:29 NIV. That means fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains. God created your body and all the trillions of cells inside. Those cells are designed to recognize only the seed bearing plants in their wholeness. This means that everything man has created and calls food is poison to the life of the cell. The food He created for us contains not only vital nutrients such as minerals and vitamins, but they contain color and sound that vibrates to the life of our Creator. Only life gives life. “…therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV. There is wisdom in what God tells us. What is going to feed your cells? The whole baked potato with its alkaline skin rich in potassium or a bag of potato chips deep fried and long dead? Do you see the difference? Let’s not call dead, processed packaged stuff, food!
So the first step in beginning a healthier way of eating is to choose the right food. Shop on the outside of the store and avoid all the frozen, boxed and packaged stuff. Yes, this means you may have to actually go back to cooking and preparing your food. We have gotten away from that and it has cost us dearly in our health and the health of our children. Throw away every box of breakfast cereal and cook some organic eggs or have a bowel of old fashioned oatmeal. Don’t even feed the white bread to the birds or they will get sick, try some Ezekiel or sprouted grain bread instead. Have a sweet tooth? Try grapes or a baked apple. Don’t eat enough vegetables? or any? Try making a Green Drink. This will provide loads of alkalizing minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, increase your energy and help with sugar cravings and weight loss! A winner all around.
I know change is hard. You mind needs to accept it but your body will rejoice! My advice is start slow and introduce 1 or 2 new things a week. If you drink a 6 pack of coke a day or the same in sweet tea, substitute 2 glasses of water with a slice of lemon in it for 2 of your cokes. Add an apple a day. Instead of a frozen dinner cook some chicken and and a side of your favorite vegetables. The more real food you eat the healthier you body will become over time.
I know you can do this and God is there to help you. When you feel weak, frustrated, anxious or angry, remember to look to Him and tell him you need his help. There is a reason Jesus said “Come to me you who are weary and heavily burdened” Matthew 11:28-30 NIV. He will take the burden, give it to Him!. Next time I’ll share with you how He helped me overcome many addictions. Be blessed and may you “Be in health, body, mind and spirit”.
